FITCHBURG, WIS. — Glanbia Nutritionals has introduced LinPro 140, a flax protein powder that may be used in a range of applications, including bars, clusters, cereal and beverages. The ingredient is 38% to 40% protein and 32% fiber. LinPro 140 is allergen-free, bioengineered-free and vegetarian.

Glanbia Nutritionals initially launched LinPro 140 in the United States. The company anticipates the ingredient should be available in Europe within a year.

A clean flavor profile and non-gritty mouthfeel allows LinPro 140 to provide a soft texture in bars, according to Fitchburg-based Glanbia Nutritionals, a division of Glanbia P.L.C. The powder’s solubility allows it to be used in beverages. Glanbia Nutritionals heat treats LinPro 140 with the company’s patented MicroSure Plus 5-log kill process, which is designed to provide flaxseed with a shelf life of two years.

“Flax is currently experiencing huge interest thanks to its numerous health benefits and superfood status,” said Marilyn Stieve, business development manager – flax at Glanbia Nutritionals. “LinPro 140 offers all the nutritional value of flax in a completely natural product that meets manufacturer demand for high quality protein, fiber and omega-3s, as well as maintaining the desired sensory properties.”
