CAMDEN, N.J. — Mark Alexander, president of Americas Simple Meals and Beverages for the Campbell Soup Co., will leave the company on April 2 to pursue other opportunities. He has been with the company nearly 29 years.

Mr. Alexander’s departure follows a difficult quarter for Campbell Soup. The company’s fiscal 2018 second-quarter earnings were below expectations, said Denise Morrison, president and chief executive officer. The business mainly faced challenges in its Americas Simple Meals and Campbell’s Fresh businesses.

Mr. Alexander joined Campbell Soup in 1989 as an assistant brand manager. He held various marketing, sales and general management roles within the company until he was named president of Asia Pacific in 2006. In 2009, he was appointed chief customer officer and president of North America Baking and Snacking and was promoted a year later to president of Campbell International. In 2012, he was named president of Campbell North America and was promoted to his current position in 2015.

“Mark has been an influential leader, and we are grateful for his many contributions during his nearly three decades with Campbell,” Ms. Morrison said. “During his career, he has had a meaningful impact on our business and culture. We wish him the best in his future endeavors and thank him for his leadership.”
