SAN FRANCISCO — Après, producer of plant-based protein beverages described as offering whole-body replenishment, has closed a $1.1 million seed series fundraising round led by Rocana Venture Partners.

Founded in 2016 by Darby Jackson and Sonny McCracken, Après manufactures beverages made with a blend of organic plant protein from pea, chia, cacao and hemp formulated with organic virgin coconut oil and organic coconut water. Each bottle contains 180 to 190 calories and 13 grams of plant protein. Available in mint cacao, sea salt chocolate and chia spiced vanilla flavors, the beverages are made with all vegan, kosher, non-G.M.O., dairy-free, gluten-free and soy-free ingredients.

"We developed Après to meet a need in the market that our consumer, especially women, was asking for — a clean, functional formula that balances protein and other complementary ingredients to provide essential nutrition and great taste for on-the-go and post-workout replenishment,” Ms. Jackson, said. “Our product has resonated across a broad range of consumers nationwide who have quickly incorporated Après into their wellness routines.”

The $1.1 million seed series raise led by Rocana Venture Partners brings Après to $1.6 million total capital raised to date. The company plans to use the funds to develop a range of new product options and grow the brand through nontraditional beverage channels, Après said.
