CAMDEN, N.J. — Roberto Leopardi has been named president of Campbell Meals & Beverages at the Campbell Soup Co., effective June 4. He succeeds Mark Alexander, who left his role as president of Americas Simple Meals and Beverages for Campbell Soup on April 2.

In his new role, Mr. Leopardi will lead the division that includes Campbell Soup’s North American soup, sauces and shelf-stable beverage brands as well as Pacific Foods and Plum Organics. He will report to Luca Mignini, chief operating officer at Campbell Soup.

Mr. Leopardi joins Campbell Soup from SC Johnson, where he spent the past 24 years, most recently as vice-president of North America marketing. He began his career with Nestle S.A. as a brand manager in 1989.

“Roberto brings extensive consumer-packaged goods industry experience where he has built, grown and transformed global businesses,” Mr. Mignini said. “He will offer a fresh perspective to the division that is home to many of our iconic brands. Roberto will play a critical role in delivering against our strategic priorities of stabilizing and then sustaining strong financial results for this important Campbell division.”

The appointment of Mr. Leopardi follows a recent leadership shakeup at the Campbell Soup Co. On May 18, Denise Morrison abruptly retired as president and chief executive officer of the company. Keith McLoughlin, a member of the board of directors, has been named interim c.e.o. and the company has begun the search for a new leader.
