CHICAGO — Crunchy textures, sour flavors and premium ingredients were prevalent in new products unveiled at the Sweets & Snacks Expo, held May 22-24 in Chicago. More than 800 companies, including more than 150 first-time exhibitors, offered a taste of the latest launches in packaged snacks and confections.

“Innovation and new products are key drivers of treating and snacking,” said John Downs, president and chief executive officer of the National Confectioners Association, which sponsors the event.

Brands at the show featured a broad range of products, from the classic potato chips and chocolate bars to the unexpected beet puffs and mushroom jerky.
