EMERYVILLE, CALIF. — Clif Bar & Co. is launching three new product lines, one of which marks the company’s first foray into the cereal segment.
“With the introduction of Clif Energy Granola, Clif enters a new category, bringing an easy, nutritious breakfast solution to the cereal aisle,” Clif Bar said. “Add this certified organic treat to Greek yogurt, almond milk or homemade acai bowls for a satisfying breakfast full of flavor.”
New Clif Energy Granola was inspired by the granola that Clif Bar founder Gary Erickson would make for the hiking trips he guided through the High Sierra mountain range, Clif Bar said. Made with organic oats, almonds, seeds, dried fruit and 8 grams of plant-based protein, the granola contains 25-27 grams of whole grains and is gluten-free. Flavors include blueberry crisp, cinnamon almond, cocoa almond and white chocolate macadamia nut.
“Clif Energy Granola is the first energy granola inspired by Clif Bars, specifically crafted to help you start your adventurous day,” Clif Bar said. “Satisfying and delicious, our granola is not only inspired by favorite Clif Bar flavors but contains larger clusters for a delightful crunch that won’t disappoint and crumble. These clusters include a pea protein crisp that is gluten-free, certified organic, tastes great and is designed to hold up – and float – in milk."
The company also is introducing Clif Fruit Smoothie Filled Energy Bars in strawberry banana, wild blueberry acai and tart cherry berry flavors. The U.S.D.A.-certified organic bars are filled with a blend of fruit flavors and cashew and sunflower seed butter that mimics classic smoothie ingredients.
“The ingredients in Clif Fruit Smoothie Filled Energy Bar deliver sustained energy for lower-intensity, longer duration activities like hiking or a bike ride,” Clif Bar said. “Combining the nutrients of an energy bar with the protein and fat found in nut and seed butters helps to reduce glycemic index and provide lasting energy for athletes and adventurers.”
New Clif Sweet & Salty bars were inspired by the homemade cookies served at Clif Bar’s employee-run Kali’s Cafe in Emeryville. The bars are available in chocolate chunk with sea salt, caramel toffee with sea salt, and peanut butter and honey with sea salt varieties.
“At Clif, we make craveable food for athletes and everyday adventurers,” said Dan Hickle, vice-president of brand marketing. “All of our offerings are crafted with purpose, providing nutrition to deliver energy for whatever your needs may be. Whether you’re biking through the city, taking your dog on a hike or training for a triathlon, our new products satisfy your hunger and provide the energy needed for every adventure.”
