KANSAS CITY — Vegetarian and vegan offerings are trending in new food launches as consumer demand for plant-based products continues to climb.

Nestle S.A.’s Lean Cuisine brand is launching Origins, a new line of meatless dishes made with 70% organic ingredients. Varieties include Butternut Squash Lasagna, Coconut Chickpea Curry, Farmer’s Market Pizza, Linguine with Ricotta & Spinach Meatless Meatballs, Mushroom & Vegetable Shepherd’s Pie, Sicilian-Style Pesto with Lentil Pasta and Tuscan-Style Vegetable Lasagna. The Coconut Chickpea Curry and Sicilian-Style Pesto with Lentil Pasta dishes are also vegan.

“The Lean Cuisine team of chefs and nutritionists work hand in hand to create new ways to meet women’s evolving needs,” said Julie Lehman, marketing director for Lean Cuisine. “The new Origins Lean Cuisine meatless mealsubline offers even more of what our consumers are after, from gluten-free foods to meatless offerings to options made with organic ingredients and now, vegan dishes. We have recipes every woman will enjoy, no matter their preference because we want to help nourish women and their pursuits.”

Conagra Brands, Inc. is adding breakfast bowls to its Power Bowls line. Two of the new Morning Power Bowls are vegetarian: Roasted Red Pepper and Egg White Shashuska, and Pesto and Egg White Scramble bowl.

Nuttzo is adding two new vegan varieties to its Bold BiteZ refrigerated bars line: Peanut Pro Cacao Nibs + Probiotics, and Power Fuel Maple + Matcha.
