KANSAS CITY — Restaurants are bolstering their breakfast offerings with new beverages, sandwiches and sweets intended for the morning meal.

Starbucks is serving two new coffee beverages to caffeinate consumers in the morning. The Iced Vanilla Bean Coconutmilk Latte is made with vanilla bean powder shaken with coconutmilk and ice topped with espresso shots, while the Salted Cream Cold Foam Cold Brew is made with Starbucks cold-brew coffee and caramel syrup. The beverage is topped with Starbucks’ new salted cream cold foam, which features salt in the cold foam made from vanilla sweet cream.

“We’re looking at cold beverages not just as an analog to hot — we’re creating specifically for cold,” said Jennica Robinson, product developer for Starbucks R.&D. “Cold foam holds on top of your beverage, so every sip is just like the first.”

Starbucks also is introducing the Smoked Shoulder Bacon Breakfast Sandwich, featuring pecanwood smoked pork shoulder bacon, egg and sun-dried tomato cream cheese on Parmesan-crusted toast.

Also offering new breakfast sandwiches is Hardee’s, which is debuting new Breakfast Sliders. The Applewood-Smoked Bacon Breakfast Slider features a folded scrambled egg, melted cheese and applewood-smoked bacon on a slider bun. The Sausage Breakfast Slider features a folded scrambled egg, sausage patty and melted cheese served on a slider bun.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is serving a sweet new breakfast option with its Glazed Confetti Doughnut. The limited-time offering features a vanilla birthday cake-inspired dough with confetti sprinkles in it glazed with Krispy Kreme’s original glaze and topped with more colorful sprinkles.
