LOS ANGELES — Rosa Foods, the maker of meal replacement brand Soylent, has expanded its leadership team with the addition of three executives.
Demir Vangelov joins the company as chief financial officer. Most recently, he held the same role at Califia Farms, a maker of plant-based beverages. At Rosa Foods, he will be responsible for leading and managing Soylent’s strategic financial planning while serving as a strategic business partner to Bryan Crowley, chief executive officer of Rosa Foods, and the board of directors.
Benjamin Cariou has been named vice-president of digital acquisition and e-commerce. He joins the company from Chef’d, a meal kit delivery company, where he managed all marketing related activities, driving brand awareness and increasing site traffic. In his new role, he will be responsible for customer acquisition, retention and loyalty, merchandising, analytics and customer experience.
Andrew Thomas joins the company as vice-president of brand marketing. Previously, he was director of marketing strategy and communications for Premium Nutrition at PepsiCo, Inc., overseeing brand strategy and marketing communications for Naked Juice, KeVita and Izze Sparkling Juice. He will lead Soylent’s brand and product strategy, retail trade marketing, insights and innovation.
“We are thrilled to welcome such experienced and outstanding talent to the Soylent leadership team,” Mr. Crowley said. “I look forward to working closely with all of them as we continue to grow and work diligently on our mission to make expensive, unhealthy and unsustainable food voids obsolete for people everywhere.”
Founded in 2013, Soylent products include powder and ready-to-drink beverages that are sold online and in select retail locations.
