KANSAS CITY — Fall flavors are the focus of new items on menus, from apple cider to maple to pumpkin.

New items in the bakery case at Starbucks feature apple cider and maple flavors. The new Apple Cider Donut is an old-fashioned cake donut flavored with apple cider and topped with vanilla icing and a sprinkle of turbinado sugar. The new Maple Pecan Muffin features pecans and maple syrup.

At Caribou Coffee, maple is the main event in the new Maple Boudino. The seasonal beverage is made with milk (or heavy cream if blended), espresso and maple-flavored syrup all topped with whipped cream and a sprinkle of salt and sugar. The Maple Boudino is available hot, iced or blended with ice.

Opting for the traditional autumn offering, Smoothie King is serving four new smoothies packed with pumpkin: the Slim-N-Trim Pumpkin Smoothie, Coffee High Protein Pumpkin Smoothie, Vegan Pumpkin Smoothie and Pumpkin D-Lite Smoothie.

“We know that everyone loves to enjoy pumpkin-flavored everything this time of year, and at Smoothie King, they can indulge their seasonal cravings while maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle,” said Rocky Gettys, vice-president of product development at Smoothie King. “Unlike a lot of pumpkin-flavored items, Smoothie King’s pumpkin smoothies get their taste from real, organic pumpkin, and with our Cleaner Blending Initiative, guests can feel good about drinking them as part of their health and fitness journeys.”

Pumpkin pops up again at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. The coffee shop is launching a trio of new pumpkin-themed drinks; the Pumpkin Cold Brew Almond Milk Latte, Pumpkin Chai Tea Latte and Pumpkin Latte. All three beverages may be ordered hot, iced or blended with ice, and customers may add a caramel swirl, cookie crumble or chocolate drizzle.
