ATLANTA — Premium ice cream company High Road Craft Ice Cream, Inc. has acquired Ciao Bella Gelato Co., Inc., a maker of gelato and sorbetto. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1983, Ciao Bella began as a scoop shop in New York City’s Little Italy. Today, the brand offers packaged pints of gelato and sorbetto in flavors such as chocolate mascarpone, strawberry limonata and blackberry cabernet.

The combined company plans to explore opportunities in premium frozen dessert and novelty categories. High Road said it will reintroduce Ciao Bella’s classic, bold-colored paper packaging and will release the brand’s best-selling flavors and new varieties.

I am very happy to be joining the team and can’t wait to see the marvelous things that High Road will create.”
