PLANO, TEXAS — Jaxie Alt has been named the first chief marketing officer of Stryve Biltong, maker of gourmet beef biltong meat snacks.

Ms. Alt was most recently executive vice-president and chief people officer for Dr Pepper Snapple Group. During her more than 17 years with the company, she held various roles of increasing responsibility, including brand manager, vice-president of brand marketing and co-c.m.o. Before joining Dr Pepper Snapple, Ms. Alt spent two years with Taco Bell as a senior promotions analyst.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Jaxie to the Stryve leadership team,” said Joe Oblas, co-founder of Stryve Biltong. “Her creative abilities coupled with her results-driven background and passion are exactly what we need to take Stryve Biltong to the next level.”

The appointment of Ms. Alt comes during a time of “rapid growth,” for Stryve, the company said. Earlier this month, the meat snack maker secured a series B investment and now seeks to drive consumer education and awareness of its biltong.

Biltong originates from the South African tradition of air-drying meat. Beef is marinated in traditional ingredients, including salt, pepper, ground coriander and vinegar, which add flavor and act as curing agents. The meat is then air-dried and may be sliced into strips or formed into sticks called droëwors. Stryve Biltong’s product portfolio includes biltong stick minis, beef biltong, trail mix with biltong and biltong sticks.
