Taco Bell launches Triple Steak Stack

IRVINE, CALIF. — The latest innovation from Taco Bell isn’t a taco or burrito but a steak sandwich served on a Mexican-inspired flatbread. With three times as much meat as the chain’s grilled steak soft taco, the Triple Steak Stack features grilled steak smothered in a three-cheese blend.

Taco Bell also has introduced Cinnabon Delights, frosting-filled bite-sized pastries dusted with cinnamon sugar and served warm.

The new items are available at participating locations nationwide.

Greek Gods expands yogurt line

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y. — Honey peach joins the lineup of Greek yogurt flavors from The Greek Gods, a Hain Celestial Group brand. Other varieties include honey lemon, honey orange, honey blueberry, honey strawberry, vanilla honey, cinnamon and orange, fig, pomegranate and honey salted caramel.

“The honey peach flavor is exceptionally delicious, and we are excited to add an additional fruit-flavored offering to the lineup,” said Basel Nassar, chief operating officer of the Hain Refrigerated Foods Division.

The product will be available in 24-oz tubs at retailers nationwide. 

Honest Tea adds unsweetened lemon tea

BETHESDA, MD. — Honest Tea, a business unit of the Coca-Cola Co., is expanding its zero-calorie beverage offerings with an unsweetened lemon tea. Made with organic lemon extract and certified fair-trade black tea leaves from India, the beverage is packaged in 16.9-oz PET bottles.

“We worked hard to create an unsweetened tea with a smooth and easily accessible taste profile that Unsweet Lemon Tea delivers,” said Seth Goldman, co-founder and chief executive officer. “We hope this new variety will resonate with consumers as they seek out more zero calorie beverages.”

The product is available at retailers nationwide.

New York Style gets makeover

PARSIPPANY, N.J. — New flavors and bold packaging are part of B&G Foods’ reboot of its New York Style baked snack brand.

New York Style Sweet Swirls debut in two flavors: Cinnabon cinnamon rolls and chocolate. With 130 calories per serving, the small, crunchy bites feature visible swirls of flavor.

New York Style Bagel Crisps are light and crispy with less fat and fewer calories than traditional potato chips. Made with bagel bread, varieties include roasted garlic, sea salt, sea salt and black pepper, cinnamon raisin, everything, sesame and plain.

New York Style Pita Chips feature a double layer with a real pita pocket in Parmesan garlic herb, garden fresh ranch, red hot chili pepper and sea salt varieties.

New York Style Mini Bagels are bite-size chips with less fat and fewer calories than potato chips. Flavors include roasted garlic, sea salt, barbecue and cheddar.

New York Style Panetini is Italian-style toast made from artisan bread in garlic, garlic Parmesan and three-cheese varieties.

Sriracha bacon lollipops debut

AUSTIN, TEXAS — Combining two hot trends, Lollyphile’s latest addition features flavors of bacon and Sriracha hot sauce. The product is described by the company as “candied, salty, spicy, peppery, porky goodness.”

“We had every intention of making a pumpkin pie spice lolly for Thanksgiving,” said Jason Darling, owner of Lollyphile. “But the ubiquitousness of pumpkins, the recent concerns of a Sriracha shortage and the Thanksgiving/Hannukah overlap made a Sriracha Bacon lollipop something that needed to happen.”

Lollyphile also makes lollipops in such flavors as chocolate bacon, habanero tequila, wasabi ginger and blue cheese.

A sweet twist on peanut butter

CANNON FALLS, MINN. — A new peanut butter line features such ingredients as white chocolate, raspberries and wild honey.

PB Crave from Curt’s Peanut Butter Co. is gluten- and cholesterol-free and contains no hydrogenated oil, artificial flavors or high-fructose corn syrup. Made with fresh-farm peanuts, varieties include Cookie Nookie, made with cookie dough flavor, milk chocolate chunks and honey; Razzle Dazzle, with raspberry flavoring, white and semi-sweet chocolate chunks and honey; Coco Bananas, with honey, semi-sweet chocolate chunks and banana flavor; and Choco Choco, with dark chocolate and honey.

Sriracha sandwiches debut at Subway

MILFORD, CONN. — Embracing the red-hot Sriracha trend, Subway has launched a Fiery Footlong collection, featuring a pair of sandwiches with the sauce.

The Sriracha Chicken Melt and Sriracha Steak Melt feature grilled chicken strips or steak, topped with a creamy Sriracha sauce, pepper jack cheese and a choice of vegetables. Rounding out the collection are Buffalo Chicken, featuring grilled chicken smothered in Buffalo sauce, and Turkey Jalapeno Melt, with turkey, jalapenos and melted pepper jack cheese.

Additionally, the creamy Sriracha sauce may be added to any sub or sandwich.

Gluten-free oatmeal rolls out

IRVINE, CALIF. — Modern Oats, a new line of gluten-free oatmeal from Innovative Beverage Concepts, Inc., is made with organic, non-bioengineered ingredients, including goji berries, hazelnuts, hemp seeds and cocoa nibs.

Varieties include mango blackberry, chocolate cherry, nuts and seeds, apple walnut, five-berry and goji blueberry.

Each cup has 6 to 8 grams of fiber and 8 to 9 grams of protein. The products are certified kosher and vegan.

Modern Oats are available at select grocery stores and coffee shops for a suggested retail price of $3.25 per cup.

Sonic unveils minty treats

OKLAHOMA CITY — Two minty treats will be offered at Sonic Drive-In through December. The Vanilla Holiday Mint Shake blends features blended bits of crushed holiday mints and whipped topping. A Chocolate Holiday Mint Shake also is available.

The Chocolate Holiday Mint Molten Cake Sundae includes chocolate cake filled with hot fudge and topped with ice cream, hot fudge, crushed holiday mints, whipped topping and a cherry.

“We are known for our great desserts, and the holiday season presents an opportunity to do something fun with the nostalgic flavor of mint,” said Claes Petersson, vice-president of product innovation of Sonic Corp. “Once we layer in sweet vanilla and crunchy mint to our creamy and rich real ice cream, the flavor profile is distinctly holiday and undoubtedly Sonic.”

Einstein Noah adds sweet, savory seasonal items

LAKEWOOD, COLO. — Cinnamon cream cheese and a pair of panini sandwiches are among new seasonal offerings from Einstein Bros. Bagels and Noah’s New York Bagels.

The Cinnamon Toast Egg Panini features egg, crisp bacon, melted cheddar cheese and a cinnamon butter blend grilled on a cinnamon raisin bagel. The Cranberry Turkey Panini combines warm turkey, house-made cranberry sauce, whipped cream cheese, melted Swiss and mozzarella cheeses, fresh spinach and crisp bacon on grilled ciabatta bread.

Seasonal latte flavors include cinnamon caramel, drizzled with caramel, and cookie crumble, topped with snickerdoodle cookie bits. The beverages are available hot, iced or frozen.

The items are available nationwide through January 1.

Schwan’s butters up to pie lovers

MINNEAPOLIS — Debuting from Schwan’s Consumer Brands’ pie portfolio are frozen unbaked pies made with real butter for a flakier crust.

The Mrs. Smith’s Original Flaky Crust lineup includes six varieties: apple, dutch apple, cherry, peach, pumpkin and sweet potato.

“Our new crust recipe, which includes real butter, will deliver a flaky crust unlike anything on the market today,” said Susan Allen, senior director for brand management for Schwan’s Consumer Brands.

The pies are available at retailers nationwide for a suggested retail price of $6.99.

Panda Express adds Sriracha shrimp

ROSEMEAD, CALIF. — Sriracha Shrimp is the newest premium offering from Panda Express. The limited-time item features large crispy shrimp, fresh-cut string beans and sweet red bell peppers wok-tossed in the spicy namesake sauce.

Sriracha Shrimp may be ordered as an a la carte item or as part of a combo meal.
