LOS ANGELES — Cacique, Inc., a maker of Mexican-style cheeses, cremas and chorizos, is entering the salsa category with the acquisition of El Sol Foods. Based in Gilbert, Ariz., El Sol Foods makes homestyle salsas. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Cacique said the salsas will be marketed as Cacique Homestyle Salsas and will be available in nine varieties, including homestyle, mild, medium and hot, as well as in multiple specialty and organic homestyle varieties.
