PHEONIX — Jack L. Sinclair has been named chief executive officer at Sprouts Farmers Market, Inc.

Mr. Sinclair has more than 35 years of experience in retail and grocery. He joins Sprouts from 99 Cents Only Stores, L.L.C., where he was chief merchandising officer for three years before being named c.e.o. in 2018. Before that, he was executive vice-president of Walmart’s United States grocery division. At Walmart, Mr. Sinclair oversaw all aspects of the company’s grocery business and led the effort to focus on local assortment and fresh foods. He also has worked for Safeway P.L.C. in London, where he oversaw operations, merchandising and marketing for over 450 Safeway supermarket and convenience store locations. He also has served on the board of directors of the Hain Celestial Group, which manufactures, markets and sells organic and natural products.

“We are extremely excited to have Jack Sinclair as our new chief executive officer following a thorough search and selection process by the board of directors,” said Joseph Fortunato, chairman of the board of Sprouts Farmers Market. “Jack is a proven chief executive officer with an outstanding track record in grocery and retail merchandising.”

Sprouts also announced that Brad Lukow, interim co-c.e.o. and chief financial officer, has resigned. He will be succeeded by Lawrence P. Molloy, who will serve as interim c.f.o. until a permanent successor has been named. Mr. Molloy has been a member on the company’s board of directors since 2013. He was c.f.o. of Under Armour, Inc., and PetSmart, Inc.

The company also announced that Shon Boney, a founder of the company and member of the board since 2002, is stepping down.
