KANSAS CITY — Move over, pumpkin spice. The new flavor of fall might be honey, which is lending its sweetness to a range of new restaurant offerings from ice creams to sandwiches to lattes.

Honey is a featured flavor in both new ice cream flavors from Cold Stone Creamery: Honey Cornbread & Blackberry Jam Ice Cream and Milk & Honey Graham Ice Cream. The offerings also are featured in two new Creations.

The Cornbread is My Jam Creation is made with Honey Cornbread & Blackberry Jam Ice Cream, cornbread, honey and blueberries.

The Honey Graham Bowl Creation features Milk & Honey Graham Ice Cream, caramel and Golden Grahams cereal.

“We are so eager to share these exciting new flavors and Creations as we enter into the fall season,” said Sara Schmillen, vice-president of marketing at Cold Stone parent company Kahala Brands. “Our fall flavors are sure to satisfy any craving.”

Honey mixes with mustard in a sweet and savory new sandwich from Ruby Tuesday. The Honey Crunch Chicken Sandwich features crispy fried chicken topped with cheddar cheese, bacon, fried onion rings and creamy honey mustard.

Peet’s Coffee is pushing honey into the spotlight in its new espresso beverage. The Honey Harvest Latte is made with espresso, smoky Lapsang Souchong syrup and steamed milk sweetened with a touch of honey.

“Our new Honey Harvest Latte showcases our Peet’s handcrafted approach at its best,” said Patrick Main, senior R.&D. manager of beverages at Peet’s Coffee. “As summer turns to fall, beekeepers harvest honey from their hives, using pine smoke to calm the bees. The Peet’s Honey Harvest Latte pays tribute to this practice with a warm honey sweetness and a subtle smokiness achieved by infusing a house-made simple syrup with pine-smoked Mighty Leaf Lapsang Souchong tea.”
