KANSAS CITY — As autumn approaches, food manufacturers are launching limited-edition treats, yogurts and even meat products featuring the flavors of fall. While maple and apple appear in a handful of new seasonal offerings, pumpkin is still the prevalent flavor profile.
Pumpkin pops up in a new sweet snacks, including peanut butter from Kellogg Co.’s RXBAR, cookies and wafers from Voortman Bakery, mochi-wrapped ice cream bites from My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream, pumpkin spice rolls from Lancaster Colony Corp.’s Sister Schubert’s brand and CupCakes from Hostess Brands, Inc. But the flavor also is featured in less expected places, like in Hormel Foods Corp.’s Pumpkin Spice Spam. The canned pork product is seasoned with cinnamon, clove, allspice and nutmeg.
Apple also adds an autumnal spin to new fall offerings. Voortman Bakery is introducing apple crisp crème Wafers, My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream is debuting apple pie a la mode mochi-wrapped ice cream bites, and the Campbell Soup Co. is launching Kettle Brand apple cider vinegar chips.
Maple lends its syrupy sweetness to new maple creme Oreo cookies from Mondelez International, Inc. and French toast swirl flavored creamer from Danone S.A.'s International Delight brand.
