KANSAS CITY — Intense flavor profiles are permeating new product launches as food and beverage manufacturers seek to lure adventurous consumers.

The J.M. Smucker Co. is introducing Folgers Noir, a new portfolio of extra dark roasted coffee made with 100% Arabica coffee beans. Available in ground coffee, K-Cup, instant coffee and instant coffee stick formats, Folgers Noir comes in four flavors: Golden Dusk, a medium dark roast coffee with a medium body and complex finish; Rich Satin, a dark roast coffee with a full body and smooth finish; Smoky Midnight, an intensely dark roast coffee with a robust body and smoky finish; and True Dark, a dark roast coffee with a bold body and rich finish.

“Developed especially for coffee lovers seeking dark roasted, complex coffee, Folgers Noir coffees highlight a range of dark, yet smooth roasts,” Smucker said. “Each distinctively dark selection of 100% Arabica coffee is expertly roasted to create a coffee that is deliciously dark.”

Mondelez International, Inc. is bringing fiery flavor to its Ritz Crisp & Thins lineup with two new limited-edition varieties: Jalapeño Cheddar and Buffalo. The potato and wheat chips contain 130 calories per 21-chip serving.

Taco Bell Corp. is also heating up the snack aisle with new Reaper Ranch Tortilla Chips. The chips feature a cool blast of ranch followed by the heat of Carolina reaper peppers. Sold in 3.5-oz and 9.25-oz bags, the spicy snack is certified vegetarian, kosher and made with gluten-free ingredients.

“We’ve seen our fans incorporate chips into entrees, sprinkled on salads and, of course, enjoyed as the best grab-and-go snack,” said Jennifer Arnoldt, Taco Bell’s senior director of retail engagement and experience. “No one expected us to come out with a flavor hotter than Diablo, and we’re excited to show our fans that we’re constantly innovating when it comes to giving them access to the Taco Bell flavors they know and love in unique and unexpected new ways.”
