DUBLIN, OHIO — Wendy’s Co. is celebrating its 50th anniversary with the debut of the Birthday Cake Frosty, the first new Frosty flavor in 13 years.

The limited-edition frozen treat features a blend of vanilla Frosty mixed with the flavor of a classic birthday cake, Wendy’s said. A small contains 350 calories and sells for $1.49.

The Birthday Cake Frosty serves as the base of the new Birthday Cake Frosty Cookie Sundae, which is topped with sugar cookie pieces and colorful sprinkles. The sundae contains 410 calories and sells for $2.19.

The Birthday Cake Frosty is Wendy’s first new Frosty flavor since it launched a vanilla version in August 2006. Created by Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas, the original chocolate Frosty was one of five products on Wendy’s menu in 1969.

“We’re a company dedicated to fast food done right,” Wendy’s said. “It’s in that same spirit that we are releasing a limited-edition flavor of our iconic, legendary Frosty, a product that has been on our menu since our beginning and, in a typical year, will sell more than 300 million Frosty treats. So, in honor of our 50th, celebrate with us by enjoying a Birthday Cake Frosty Cookie Sundae. It’s a birthday party in a cup … no off-tune singing or party hat required.”
