DENVER — Quiznos announced it is testing plant-based corned beef sandwiches in Denver-area locations beginning Nov. 15. The sandwich features Unreal Corned Beef from Mrs. Goldfarb’s Unreal Deli, topped with swiss cheese, pickles, sauerkraut and honey French dressing.
Unreal Corned Beef is made from beets, chickpeas, tomatoes and a complex blend of spices. It has no coloring or preservatives and is cholesterol and nitrate- free.
“Given consumers’ growing desire for meatless options and the rise of plant-based foods, we wanted to test this modern twist on a deli classic here in Denver where sustainable green lifestyles are thriving,” said Sheila Zimmerman, vice-president of marketing at Rego Restaurant Group, owner of Quiznos. “Mrs. Goldfarb’s Unreal Deli is a delicious alternative to traditional deli meat and a perfect brand fit.”
Entrepreneur Jenny Goldfarb founded the company in early 2019. Her first product, Unreal Corned Beef, was a hit in select Los Angeles stores and is now available nationwide.
“Just like burger lovers may seek out plant-based alternatives, corned beef aficionados can now also have a product that is, in the best sense, Unreal,” she said.
