SEATTLE – Aqua Star is bringing convenience to the seafood segment with a new line of chef-designed seafood meals that are microwavable.

New MicroSteam Seafood Meals feature technology that locks in the steam so each meal may be cooked from frozen in six minutes. In the microwave, the MicroSteam film expands and locks in steam to cook food evenly, Aqua Star said.

Containing fewer than 500 calories each, the meals combine BAP- and MSC-certified seafood, including salmon, shrimp, tilapia, and cod, with ingredients including mafalda pasta, sriracha, red quinoa and yellow carrots.

The BBQ Sriracha Wild Salmon meal is gluten-free and includes broccoli, brown rice, red quinoa, bacon and a sweet and spicy barbecue sauce.

The Lemon Herb Wild Cod meal features green beans, roasted seasoned potatoes and lemon herb butter and is also gluten-free.

The Roasted Garlic Salmon comes with green beans, yellow carrots and roasted herb butter. The dish is gluten-free.

The Cajun-Style Tilapia meal is packaged with cheddar cheese pasta shells.

The White Wine Shrimp dish includes Mafalda pasta, broccoli, white wine, butter and parmesan cheese.

“Our MicroSteam Seafood Meals are a one-step meal solution for those who want a premium quality seafood meal in less time than it takes to brew a pot of coffee,” said Dirk Leuenberger, president and chief executive officer of Aqua Star. “These meals will be a hit with consumers and the grocers that serve them. With a near zero shrink, environmentally friendly trays and best-in-class presentation, we are confident our new meals will swim out of the seafood freezer case.”

Aqua Star’s MicroSteam Seafood Meals are available for a suggested retail price of $7.99 to $8.99.
