KANSAS CITY — Consumer packaged goods companies are merging their brand entities in new products.

Kellogg Co. is combining its Froot Loops cereal brand with its Pop-Tarts brand in new Frosted Froot Loops Pop-Tarts. The toaster pastries feature a fruity filling that tastes like Froot Loops cereal, Kellogg said. Each pastry is coated with frosting printed with colorful Froot Loops themed designs.

General Mills, Inc. has spliced two of its cereal brands to create new Cocoa Puffs with Lucky Charms Marshmallows. The ready-to-eat cereal contains frosted chocolate corn puff cereal with colorful shaped marshmallows.

General Mills also paired its Pillsbury brand with its Lucky Charms cereal brand to introduce Pillsbury ready-to-bake Lucky Charms cookie dough. The cookie dough comes pre-sliced in 12 big cookies that feature marshmallow bits in the shapes and colors of the hearts, horseshoes, clovers, blue moons and rainbows included in the brand’s ready-to-eat cereal.
