KANSAS CITY — Cereal isn’t just for breakfast anymore. The morning meal mainstay is now a featured flavor in cookie dough, pastries, coffee creamers, candy, smoothies and more.

The two most popular cereal varieties pouring into new products are from General Mills, Inc. — Lucky Charms and Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

General Mills recently partnered with Nestle S.A. to develop ice cream varieties based on the two cereals. Set to roll out in the coming months, the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Light Ice Cream will feature a cinnamon ice cream base with crunchy cereal pieces and cinnamon swirls, while the Lucky Charms Frozen Dairy Dessert will include a vanilla base, cereal swirl and Lucky Charms marshmallows churned into the ice cream.

Nestle teamed with General Mills again to launch Coffee Mate Cinnamon Toast Crunch creamer in January. The creamer combines cinnamon, brown sugar and hints of toasted cereal flavors.

Over the past year, General Mills also has introduced Pillsbury ready-to-bake Lucky Charms cookie dough, Cinnamon Toast Crunch Yoplait Smoothies and Lucky Charms Soft Baked Treats.
