KANSAS CITY — The freezer aisle is flourishing with frozen dessert innovation.

New from Nestle SA’s Häagen-Dazs brand is a line of Soft Dipped Ice Cream Bars. Available in vanilla, chocolate and caramel varieties, the frozen desserts feature ice cream enrobed in a soft chocolate truffle coating.

“Rich Häagen-Dazs ice cream is wrapped in a decadent, soft chocolatey coating that you can gently sink your teeth into,” the company said. “The smooth coating won’t make a crack or a sound when you bite into it for a truly unique indulgence.”

Coolhaus has teamed up with Allegro Coffee to develop Queen’s Coffee Ice Cream, made with Allegro’s Three Queens Blend. The specialty coffee is grown and produced by women in East Africa.

Dairy-free frozen dessert maker Frönen is adding two new flavors to its roster: mint chip and peanut butter fudge. Sweetened with honey, the desserts are made with six ingredients or fewer and are free of dairy, refined sugar, gluten, gums, sugar alcohol and soy.

“Peanut butter and mint chip were two of the most requested flavors from our community,” said Jessy Gartenstein, chief executive officer and co-founder of Frönen. “We are committed to reinventing classic flavors without gums, fillers or preservatives for our dairy-free tribe. It’s important for us to use simple ingredients that you can actually pronounce.”
