PLANO, TEXAS — Based on the success of Taco Bell’s Doritos Locos Tacos, Frito-Lay, a business unit of PepsiCo, Inc., is launching a Taco Bell flavor of Doritos.

“We’re basically looking to recreate that magic in the form of chips,” said Chris Kuechenmeister, spokesperson for Frito-Lay. “Doritos Locos Taco chips will have two different flavors of chips in the same bag: our nacho cheese-flavored Dorito and a taco-flavored Dorito inspired by the taco you’d get at Taco Bell. The aim is to create the same flavor experience as eating a Doritos Locos Taco from Taco Bell.”

Taco Bell has sold more than 300 million Doritos Locos Tacos since last spring’s rollout. The fast-food chain plans to add taco shells in Cool Ranch and Flamas flavors.

The chips will be available nationwide beginning in April for a limited time.
