BOSTON — 88 Acres, maker of seed-based bars, butters and granolas, is expanding beyond the snack category with a new line of seed-based dressings.

The shelf-stable condiments are created with a base of sunflower, pumpkin or watermelon seeds to provide up to five grams of plant-based protein per serving. Certified gluten-free, Non-GMO Project verified, kosher and vegan, the dressings come in five varieties: Lemon Poppy Seed, Green Goddess, Garden Ranch, Smoky Chipotle and Southwest Turmeric.

“Most shelf-stable salad dressings are filled with gums, preservatives and a bunch of things that are not real food … and on top of that, they are nutritionally devoid,” said Nicole Ledoux, co-founder and chief executive officer of 88 Acres. “We saw an opportunity to create something with seeds as the No. 1 ingredient that was packed with nutrients and real food.”

The Lemon Poppy Seed dressing is made with organic watermelon seeds, organic expeller pressed sunflower oil, poppy seeds, lemon oil, sea salt, garlic powder, organic sunflower lecithin, cardamom and sun-dried lime. Each two-tablespoon serving contains 170 calories, 5 grams of protein and no sugar.

The Green Goddess dressing contains organic pumpkin seeds, organic expeller pressed sunflower oil, spinach powder, parsley powder, shallots, sea salt, organic sunflower lecithin, garlic powder, cardamom, lemon oil and black pepper. Each two-tablespoon serving contains 180 calories, 5 grams of protein and no sugar.

The Garden Ranch dressing features organic watermelon seeds, organic expeller pressed sunflower oil, onion powder, sea salt, dill, garlic powder, organic sunflower lecithin, chives, parsley, black pepper and sun-dried lime. Each two-tablespoon serving contains 170 calories, 5 grams of protein and no sugar.

The Smoky Chipotle dressing includes organic sunflower seeds, organic expeller pressed sunflower oil, tomato flakes, maple sugar, onion powder, sea salt, organic sunflower lecithin, organic cocoa powder, chipotle chili powder, blueberry powder, organic cinnamon, black pepper and cayenne pepper. Each two-tablespoon serving contains 170 calories, 4 grams of protein and 2 grams of sugar.

The Southwest Turmeric dressing blends organic watermelon seeds, organic expeller pressed sunflower oil, sea salt, onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, organic sunflower lecithin, smoked paprika, black pepper, chipotle chili powder and turmeric. Each two-tablespoon serving contains 170 calories, 5 grams of protein and no sugar.

“Whether you follow a Whole30 diet, want to eat less meat, or you just want to get more plants into your diet, our dressings make a plate or bowl of fresh produce more satiating and allow you to get way more out of them,” Ms. Ledoux said.

88 Acres dressings are available in 8-oz bottles for a suggested retail price of $7.99. The products are available now on the company’s website and are slated to roll out to Whole Foods Market stores nationwide later this month.
