LOS ANGELES — Muniq, a new consumer health and food-tech brand with a “food as medicine” ethos, is debuting with its flagship line of nutritional shakes powered by resistant starch. The company aims to “help people take back control of their health through the science of the gut microbiome, by stabilizing blood sugar levels and strengthening the immune system,” Muniq said.

Muniq’s patent-pending shakes are formulated with a high concentration of resistant starch, a class of prebiotic fiber that resists digestion and feeds the gut, Muniq said. The starch is derived from green banana powder and oat beta glucan. One serving of a Muniq shake contains 15 grams of prebiotic resistant starch fibers.

Formulated to be a complete meal, Muniq shakes offer a balanced profile of protein, fiber, healthy fats and essential vitamins and minerals to satisfy hunger for up to four hours, the company said. The shakes are free of sugar, sweetened with allulose and come in vegan chocolate, vanilla crème, mocha latte and chocolate flavors. Each serving contains 160 to 180 calories, 15 grams of protein and 6 to 7 grams of net carbs.

"We all need more hope in our lives these days,” said Marc Washington, founder of Muniq. “I created Muniq to empower people to regain control of their health, naturally, with products they actually enjoy."
