LYNNFIELD, MASS. — Pete Spanedda has been named senior vice president of sales at HP Hood LLC, effective Aug. 1. His appointment follows the retirement of Jim Walsh, executive vice president of sales, who had been with the company for 20 years.

Mr. Spanedda joined HP Hood in 2004 as director of sales and was later promoted to vice president of sales. He has helped the company triple its revenue to nearly $3 billion. In his new role, he will oversee Hood’s selling organization, pricing, transportation, logistics, customer service, trade marketing and category management, among other responsibilities. Prior to Hood, he held sales leadership roles at The Dannon Co. and Kraft Foods.

“Pete is a proven leader with a strong vision for Hood who brings more than 30 years of management experience in the consumer packaged goods industry,” said John A. Kaneb, chairman and chief executive officer of HP Hood. “We believe his expertise, leadership, and passion for the business will help propel the company into the future.”

Founded in 1846, HP Hood is the producer of dairy products and non-dairy alternatives, including Hood, Simply Smart Milk, Heluva Good, Planet Oat, Lactaid, Blue Diamond Almond Breeze, Hershey’s Milk & Milkshakes, and others.
