GREELEY, COLO. — Plumrose USA, a subsidiary of JBS USA, announced plans to build a new Italian meats and charcuterie production facility. A location for the $200 million plant has not yet been announced.
“Plumrose USA is uniquely positioned to meet growing consumer demand for great-tasting, high-quality Italian meats, like salami and prosciutto,” said Thomas Lopez, president of Plumrose USA. “The project reinforces our strategic commitment to grow our business and be a stronger partner for our customers, provide increased opportunities for our team members and realize the full potential of protein.”
The company’s long-term strategy has included increasing its value-added and branded products — the new facility is in line with these corporate goals.
Plumrose USA was purchased by JBS US in 2017. The company was founded more than 85 years ago and produces bacon and deli products in its six production facilities in Booneville, Miss.; Elkhard, Ind.; Council Bluffs and Ottumwa, Iowa; and Swanton, Vt.
Globally, JBS has a strong presence in the value-added, Italian meats category with significant production capabilities and recognized brands in Italy, Australia and Brazil, the company said.
