RACINE, WIS.— Butter Buds Inc. featured its latest dairy-alternative concentrates and certified organic concentrates at ShIFT20, the virtual food show and expo hosted by the Institute of Food Technologists July 13-15.

The company’s non-dairy concentrated powder solutions are formulated using a combination of maltodextrin, sunflower oil and rice starch. They provide creamy dairy flavor, add richness and mask off-notes in milk, yogurt, icings, confectionery, dessert mixes, bakery products and more, according to the company.

Butter Buds offers 17 non-dairy flavor concentrates ranging from cheddar and Parmesan to vanilla, cocoa, buttermilk and sour cream.

The company also offers a line of certified organic concentrates. Low in fat, cholesterol and trans-fat, the organic butter, cream and cheese concentrates provide rich flavor and an enhanced nutritional profile in a variety of applications, the company said.

“Our R&D professionals have the dairy expertise and understanding of flavor ingredients to help manufacturers avoid common pitfalls that arise with these new plant-based products,” said John Buhler, president of Butter Buds. “We can help them deliver a familiar flavor, texture and mouthfeel.”
