SAN FRANCISCO — Amara, a food technology company and manufacturer of baby food, is traversing into toddler snacks with new Organic Smoothie Melts.
Containing no added sugar, the melt-in-mouth snacks are designed for toddlers aged 8 months to 4 years and shaped to encourage grasping and chewing skills. Amara Organic Smoothie Melts are USDA certified organic, Non-GMO Project verified and available in plant-based and yogurt-based varieties, including Beets n' Berries, Carrot Raspberry and Mango Carrots.
The Beets n’ Berries flavor features apple, yogurt, beets, lemon juice, raspberries and blueberries.
The Carrot Raspberry variety contains apple, coconut milk, carrot, lemon juice and raspberry.
The Mango Carrot melts are made with mango, coconut milk, carrot and lemon juice.
“Parents tell us we’re the only packaged baby food they trust to give their babies — we’re thrilled to continue to grow with our customers to give them better alternatives for their babies and toddlers when they’re on-the-go,” said Jessica Sturzenegger, founder and chief executive officer of Amara. “We started Amara under the vision of providing families with fresh, healthy, convenient and affordable baby food, and we’ll continue to do that as their babies grow up.”
Amara Organic Smoothie Melts are packaged in 1-oz resealable bags and are shelf-stable for up to two years. The snacks are available on the company’s website, Amazon and select retailers beginning this month. They will roll out nationwide to other retailers beginning January 2021.
Amara first entered the baby food market in 2017 with a line of fruit and vegetable blends designed to mix with breast milk, formula or water. This past March, the company secured $2 million in seed funding, and now its products are available in more than 1,000 stores.
