WARSAW, IND. — Egg Innovations LLC has acquired Peckish, the hard-cooked egg concept hatched in serial entrepreneur Jon Sebastiani’s Sonoma Brands incubator. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Launched last year, Peckish offers a line of Peck Pack snacks pairing two eggs with crispy, crunchy, flavorful seasonings. Varieties include “Rancheros,” “Fried Rice,” “Salt & Pepitas,” “Everything” and “Ranch.” The products are gluten- and dairy-free with 12 to 14 grams of protein and no added sugar. Peckish Peck Packs are sold nationwide in Whole Foods Market stores and other select retailers.
Egg Innovations is a vertically integrated producer and supplier of pasture-raised and free-range eggs to manufacturers, retailers and foodservice operators. The company also offers eggs under the Blue Sky Family Farms brand.
“With the acquisition of the Peckish brand, Egg Innovations continues its leadership in the premium ethical egg case,” said John Brunnquell, president and chief executive officer of Egg Innovations. “We are very excited to establish a relationship with Jon Sebastiani and Sonoma Brands, who has a career track record in brand development."
Sonoma Brands will remain involved in supporting the expansion of Peckish. Lauren Egan, vice president of brand and innovation, will join the Egg Innovations team to lead marketing and product development for Peckish and Blue Sky Family Farms.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Egg Innovations as it allows Peckish to harness Sonoma Brands’ expertise in brand building and innovation, while leveraging Egg Innovations’ market leadership in ethical farming practices and competitive advantage through vertical integration,” Mr. Sebastiani said.
