OAKLAND, CALIF. — Rocky Road, a 92-year-old ice cream flavor, has inspired a new collection of ice creams made by the company that invented the original offering in 1929.

Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream, Inc.’s Edy’s/Dreyer’s brand is unveiling its Rocky Road Collection, featuring six takes on the traditional treat, three of which are new. Rocky Road was one of the first ice cream flavors to feature mix-ins, according to the company.

The new Salted Caramel Pretzel Path flavor features salted caramel ice cream, fudge swirls, chocolate covered toffee and chocolate covered salted pretzels.

The new Brownie Brick Road ice cream includes brownie pieces, crispy brownie edges and a brownie batter swirl.

The new Cookie Cobblestone offering contains chocolate sandwich cookies, swirls of marshmallows, cookie dough chunks and chocolate ice cream.

The three new varieties join the Original Rocky Road, Mocha Almond Avenue and Chocolate Peanut Butter Park ice creams in the Rocky Road Collection.

Original Rocky Road ice cream is made with almonds and bite-size marshmallows folded into chocolate ice cream.

The Mocha Almond Avenue variety adds swirls of fudge and almonds to coffee ice cream.

The Chocolate Peanut Butter Park flavor features peanut butter, chocolate ice cream and chocolate covered peanut butter cups.

“Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream was founded by William Dreyer and Joseph Edy in 1928 with the mission to spread smiles and provide delicious ice cream that the whole family could enjoy together,” said Julianne Feder, senior associate brand manager at Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream, Inc., a subsidiary of Froneri. “That mission remains the same, if not more relevant today. The new Rocky Road collection is designed to send ice cream lovers on a treasure hunt of indulgent mix-ins, full of flavor, decadence and texture. It's indulgence that the whole family can enjoy.”

The Rocky Road Collection is rolling out nationwide this month under the Edy’s brand east of the Rocky Mountains and under the Dreyer’s brand west of the Rocky Mountains and in Texas.
