ONTARIO, CALIF. — Michael Solomon has been named president of Five Star Gourmet Foods.

He brings three decades of fresh food and manufacturing category expertise to the value-added foods company. He most recently was president of Dole Fresh Vegetables. Before that he was president of Pom Wonderful and president and chief executive officer of Ready Pac Foods. Mr. Solomon also has run a business consultancy for more than 30 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business and managerial economics from Union College and a master’s degree in business administration from the Wharton School of Business.

In his new role, Mr. Solomon will oversee all day-to-day operations out of the company’s Ontario, Calif., headquarters. He will report to Tal Shoshan, CEO of FiveStar Gourmet Foods, who will continue to oversee the company’s innovation and strategic growth.
