SAN DIEGO — Carlson Choi has been named chief information officer at Jack in the Box, Inc. He joins the quick-service restaurant chain alongside Steve Piano, who was named chief people officer.

Mr. Choi previously was global chief digital officer and chief information officer at Jollibee Foods Corp., a Filipino restaurant operator with a portfolio of franchised brands, including Chowking, Greenwich Pizza and Smashburger. Before that, he was global vice president in the digital initiatives group at toy company Mattel Inc.

Mr. Piano brings more than a decade of executive-level human resources experience to his new role. Prior to joining Jack in the Box, he was head of human resources at supplements brand GNC Holdings and executive vice president of human resources at MoneyGram.

“Carlson and Steve will be instrumental in driving our strategic initiatives focused on people and technology and will help us provide world-class support to our entire system,” said Darin Harris, chief executive officer of Jack in the Box.

The new hires are the latest in a series of leadership shakeups at Jack in the Box. Mr. Harris joined the company in June 2020, following the departure of former CEO Leonard Comm in 2019. Other recent additions include Ryan Ostrom, chief marketing officer, and Timothy Mullany, chief financial officer.

“Combined with the additions we’ve already made to our executive leadership team, (Carlson and Steve) will help us achieve our strategic goals as we continue to evolve our business through operational excellence across all key departments,” Mr. Harris said.
