AUSTIN, TEXAS — Plant-based seafood brand Good Catch is debuting a new portfolio of breaded products, including frozen fish sticks, fish fillets and crab cakes.

The seafood alternatives are made with Good Catch’s proprietary six-legume blend, which includes peas, chickpeas, lentils, soy, fava beans and navy beans, and feature a light and crispy wheat flour breading. The vegan offerings were designed to recreate nostalgic comfort foods, the company said.

“This nascent industry, which is ready to surge, presents an immense opportunity for our brand,” said Christine Mei, chief executive officer of Gathered Foods, makers of Good Catch. “As we continue to grow, our focus remains on creating craveable plant-based seafood alternatives that deliver on taste, texture and comparable protein. With our new breaded line, we took fan-favorite seafood products consumers know and love and transformed them into great-tasting ocean-friendly alternatives.”

Good Catch Plant-Based Breaded Fish Sticks feature a flaky whitefish texture and contain 22o calories, 12 grams of protein and 11 grams of fat per five-stick serving.

The Plant-Based Breaded Fish Fillets have a flaky whitefish texture encased in breading. Each fillet contains 200 calories, 12 grams of protein and 11 grams of fat.

The Plant-Based Breaded Crab Cakes feature a lump crabmeat-like texture with sweet peppers, green onions, parsley and spices. Each two-cake serving contains 220 calories, 15 grams of protein and 11 grams of fat.

“These products are game-changers for the industry,” said Chad Sarno, co-founder and chief culinary officer at Gathered Foods. “Consumers have become more aware of the environmental impact of eating seafood, and we’re proud to be a delicious, culinary-driven solution. We’re pushing culinary boundaries every day to deliver the taste and texture consumers expect from seafood. This product line has surpassed our expectations and we are incredibly proud.”

Good Catch breaded plant-based seafood products will hit shelves in June for a suggested retail price of $5.99. The products will be available at select retailers, including Giant Food, Martin's, Tom Thumb, Randalls and Acme, as well as select Safeway and Albertsons locations. Good Catch has expanded distribution planned for late summer and fall of this year.
