KANSAS CITY — Frozen beverages are heating up on restaurant menus to help consumers beat the summer heat.
Taco Bell is now pouring the new Baja Blast Colada Freeze, a frozen slushy drink made with Mtn Dew Baja Blast blended with sweet tropical cream.
Sonic is serving two new slushes made with new Bursting Bubbles, the chain’s take on popping boba. The Blue Burst Slush is a frozen blue raspberry flavored beverage mixed with Sprite and green Bursting Bubbles, while the Cherry Burst Slush is a frozen cherry flavored beverage mixed with Sprite and green Bursting Bubbles and topped with a maraschino cherry.
“With Bursting Bubbles, we captured iconic Sonic flavors into sippable bursts that make cooling off on those hot summer days and nights even more fun,” said Scott Uehlein, vice president of product innovation and development for Sonic. “As the go-to summer destination for refreshment, we’re always innovating our unique drink and slush offerings. Now guests can take their tastebuds on a sweet, exciting adventure with each pop of flavor.”
Smoothie King is blending the new Watermelon X-Treme Smoothie, made with watermelon juice blend, strawberries, coconut water, dairy whey blend and turbinado. The new smoothie joins the returning Hydrating Watermelon Smoothie that debuted last summer.
“We know our guests love sipping on watermelon smoothies as the weather warms up, and we wanted to celebrate that quintessential summertime fruit even more this year,” said Rebecca Miller, chief marketing officer for Smoothie King. “That’s why we brought back our Hydration Watermelon smoothie so our guests can rehydrate after summer workouts in the most delicious way possible and added Watermelon X-Treme as another tasty way to cool down.”
Tropical Smoothie Cafe is ushering in summer with the new Mango Berry Cosmo Smoothie. It blends mango, strawberries, cranberries and lime and is served with a SORBOS edible lime-flavored straw.
