VANCOUVER, BC. — Purdys Chocolatier is launching its first line of vegan chocolate bars. The plant-based portfolio is made with sustainable cocoa and includes three new offerings that join the company’s existing Vegan Dark Chocolate Bar.

“Our customers have expressed the need for more options that suit their personal preferences and needs,” said Kriston Dean, vice president of sales and marketing for Purdys. “We want to make chocolates for everyone to enjoy, including customers looking for plant-based options. This is just the beginning.”

Purdys’ Vegan Mylk Chocolate Bar is made with rice powder, unsweetened chocolate, sugar, cocoa butter, soy lecithin and vanilla flavor. Each bar contains 210 calories and 19 grams of sugar.

The Vegan Mylk Chocolate Trail Mix Bar features a Vegan Mylk Chocolate base with pumpkin seeds, almonds, raisins and dried cranberries. Each bar contains 260 calories and 23 grams of sugar.

“These vegan chocolates are very special as they mark the first ever vegan line of chocolate at Purdys,” said Rachel McKinley, master chocolatier for Purdys. “When I started thinking about how to create these vegan chocolates, I had to first consider which dairy-free alternatives can measure up to our customers' favorite non-vegan Purdys chocolates and the standards they have come to expect from us. The result is a line of delicious vegan chocolates that can be enjoyed by everyone, including those who still consume dairy products."

Purdys vegan chocolate bars are available on the company’s website for $4 apiece or $14 for a six-bar assortment.
