GENEVA, SWITZERLAND — Givaudan is partnering with Boston-based Ginkgo Bioworks, Inc. to produce a series of ingredients using fermentation.
Givaudan will leverage Ginkgo’s cell programming platform, which enables the design of organisms that produce biological products, to develop ingredients that are available in minuscule quantities in nature, said Allison Haitz, biotechnology program director at Givaudan.
“This collaboration is the latest example of our commitment to offering the highest quality natural products to our customers around the world,” she said. “We are excited to use biology to unlock more wonders of nature in a sustainable way.”
Companies across numerous industries work with Ginkgo to find effective ways to create products, including food ingredients, flavors, cosmetics, medicines and more. The company recently announced a business combination with Soaring Eagle Acquisition Corp. that, when completed, will result in Ginkgo becoming a public company through its parent entity Ginkgo Bioworks Holdings, Inc.
