NEW YORK — Shannon Corbett has been named senior vice president of sales at vertical farming company Bowery Farming.
Ms. Corbett joins the company from Nature’s Path Foods, where she was vice president of US sales. Before that she was director of sales at Kellogg Co., where she managed a cross functional team across ready-to-eat breakfast, hot cereal, shelf stable beverages and health and wellness snacks. She also was a sales director at Mars Chocolate.
The addition of a new sales leader comes on the heels of Bowery Farming’s $300 million Series C fundraise in May. She is the latest in a series of strategic hires for the company, which also includes Injong Rhee, chief technology officer; Colin Nelson, chief supply chain officer; and Katie Seawell, chief marketing officer.
Launched in 2015, Bowery is building a network of indoor farming systems powered by its proprietary BoweryOS platform, which integrates software, hardware, sensors, computer vision systems, machine learning models and robotics to orchestrate and automate the entirety of its operations. The company’s third commercial farm is set to open early next year in Bethlehem, Pa.
The vertical farming company offers a rotating line of next generation and limited-edition greens, such as mustard frills and green sorrel, under its new Farmer’s Selection category.
“It’s been an extraordinary 20+ months of growth for Bowery as we’ve expanded our commercial partners across the Tri-state and Mid-Atlantic regions from under 100 stores to over 850 brick-and-mortar retail locations, accelerated our business in e-commerce channels and worked with a breadth of retailers to democratize access to our protected produce that is more flavorful, sustainable, traceable and pesticide free,” Ms. Seawell said. “As we look to expand the footprint of our networked farms across the country, Shannon will play a pivotal role in growing our existing retail partnerships, forging new business development opportunities and scaling a world-class sales organization.”
