KANSAS CITY — While Sept. 22 marks the official first day of fall, CPG manufacturers have been rolling out autumn offerings for more than a month. Pumpkin spice remains the prevalent flavor among fall innovation, showing up in customary categories like coffee and sweets as well as off-the-wall applications like ramen and turkey breast.
The Honey Baked Ham Co., maker of the Pumpkin Spice Glazed Turkey Breast, partnered with OnePoll to gauge consumer interest and demand for fall flavors. Poll results showed that 69% of respondents agree fall has the best seasonal flavors, and 70% agree pumpkin spice is an essential part of the fall season. Also, 65% of consumers said pumpkin spice flavors should be available August through October, and 15% want the flavor to be available all year.
“The data proves America's affinity for all things fall, especially the flavors and traditions that make it a favorite time of year,” said Jo Ann Herold, chief marketing officer at Honey Baked Ham. “We added pumpkin spice to our signature glaze to bring two fall flavors together in a delicious combination creating our Pumpkin Spice Glazed Turkey Breast. Just another way for all the pumpkin spice fans to enjoy the flavor this season.”
Other popular fall flavors appearing on shelves include cinnamon, maple, brown sugar, oat, apple and caramel.
