KANSAS CITY — Consumer brands are highlighting wintertime flavors in limited-edition launches.

Holiday cookies such as gingersnap, gingerbread and snickerdoodle are inspiring new products in a broad array of categories, including microwave popcorn, ready-to-eat oats, ice cream and soft drinks. Ferrara, a related company of The Ferrero Group, is introducing Keebler Gingerbread Fudge Stripes limited-edition cookies, combining the flavors of vanilla fudge and freshly baked gingerbread.

“The smell and taste of gingerbread instantly evokes memories of the holiday season, and our new Keebler Gingerbread Fudge Stripes cookies expand the Keebler portfolio with a delicious flavor option for small gatherings, baking or simply enjoying on their own,” said Kristin Flood, senior brand manager, seasonal cookies at Ferrara. “We’re excited to start the most wonderful time of the year with a limited-edition offering that joins our Keebler Fudge Stripes cookies family.”

Death Wish Coffee Co. has created a new holiday-themed roast. Gingerdead is rolling out from the makers of the "World's Strongest Coffee" and infuses ginger and notes of warm brown spices and cinnamon into the beans.

“We wanted to create our own spin on a holiday classic to appeal those who love to indulge in seasonally themed roasts and understand our dark sense of humor,” said Mike Pilkington, president of Death Wish Coffee Co. “Gingerdead delivers the same bold flavor and pick-me-up kick that Death Wish Coffee is known for and we’re excited for consumers to try it.”

On the savory side, Perdue Farms is offering a pair of dipping sauces to accompany its breaded turkey Thanksnuggets. Thanksdippings sauces include spiced apple honey mustard and cranberry barbecue.

“We were inspired to create this fun complement to Thanksnuggets by listening to consumers’ reactions to the launch of these unique nuggets last year,” said Jon Swadley, vice president of marketing for Perdue Premium Prepared Foods. “People wanted to know what they should dip the seasonal nuggets in, and some even offered creative suggestions. This year, we’ve been able to answer that call by including dipping sauces with the Thanksnuggets sold on PerdueFarms.com, as well as providing recipe suggestions for those who’d like to prepare their own sauces at home — making the ideal pairings to pack all the best flavors of Thanksgiving into a few bites.”

Spiceology is adding blackberry balsamic to its portfolio of signature spice blends. The product combines the tanginess of balsamic vinegar and tart sweetness of blackberries with garlic and onion and may be used on a variety of dishes, according to the company.

“It’s a fantastic blend to experiment with this holiday season,” said Tony Reed, senior director of innovation and partnerships.
