NEW YORK — Whisps Snacks is making its first foray outside of the cheese crisps category with the launch of Whisps Cheese Crumbs and Whisps Cheese Crisps & Nuts.

Featuring Parmesan and cheddar cheeses exclusively made for Whisps, the new lines are positioned as keto-friendly, low carb and high-protein alternatives to breadcrumbs and snack mixes, according to the company.

Available in Buffalo and Italian herb varieties, Whisps Cheese Crumbs are made with 14-month aged Parmesan cheese. The gluten-free, high-calcium alternatives to breadcrumbs provide 13 grams of protein per serving.

Whisps Cheese Crisps & Nuts pack 8 grams to 9 grams of protein, 3 grams of net carbs and 1 gram of sugar per serving. Varieties include tangy ranch, smoky barbecue and garlic herb. The tangy ranch variety features cheddar crisps, roasted almonds, cashews and pecans tumbled together with Whisps’ tangy ranch spice blend. The smoky barbecue variety blends cheddar crisps, almonds, cashews and pecans. The garlic herb variety features Parmesan crisps, almonds, cashews, pistachios and pecans tossed in a garlic herb spice blend.

The new products were inspired by the different ways consumers have incorporated the company’s flagship cheese crisps into their lives, said Katie Nahoum, senior vice president of marketing at Whisps.

“In the past five years, we’ve seen our fans get creative with our cheese crisps, using them as an ingredient in their favorite meals and creating savory trail mixes,” she said. “With premium, quality cheese as the star of our new Cheese Crumbs and Cheese Crisps & Nuts lines, we’re thrilled to introduce new ways to enjoy cheese throughout your day and cannot wait to see what our fans create.”

Whisps Cheese Crumbs are available at Kroger and select Costco stores nationwide, as well as on Amazon, for a suggested retail price of $6.99 per 3-oz bag. Whisps Cheese Crisps & Nuts are available at Kroger stores nationwide for a suggested retail price of $7.99 per 5.75-oz bag.
