KANSAS CITY – Innovative sweet treats and short ribs stand out as trending items on winter menus this year. The limited time offerings reflect consumer demand for indulgent items on the go and savory flavors.

On the savory side, both P.F. Chang’s and Carrabba’s Italian Grill offered entrees featuring short ribs. P.F. Chang’s offered fire-braised short ribs while Carrabba’s added a short rib marsala to its menu. Wayback Burgers added some spice to its menu this winter with entrees and sides seasoned with Texas Pete seasonings.

On the sweeter side, fast casual chains like Cinnaholic and Dunkin’ debuted new innovation. Cinnaholic cinnamon rolls added to the menu feature peanut butter and banana, and fresh strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. Dunkin’ made news with the introduction of its stroopwafel donut, which is a chocolate frosted donut topped with a miniature stroopwafel cookie.
