WASHINGTON — Butter, cheese, fruit, vegetable, poultry and red meat stocks on March 31, 2013, were higher than year-earlier levels, but egg stocks were lower, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Cold Storage report.

Frozen turkey stocks totaled 401,600,000 lbs, up 2% from February and up 7% from March 2012, the U.S.D.A. said. Total chicken stocks were 617,886,000 lbs, down 4% from February but up 8% from March 2012. Total frozen poultry stocks were 1,020,978,000 lbs, down 2% from February but up 7% from March 2012.

Natural cheese stocks on March 31 were 1,102,118,000 lbs, up 3% from February and up 5% from March 2012. Butter stocks totaled 254,801,000 lbs, up 7% from February and up 22% from 2012.

Frozen red meat supplies totaled 1,185,506,000 lbs, up 3% from February and up 4% from March 2012. Frozen pork stocks were 648,789,000 lbs, up 2% from February and up 6% from March 2012. Beef stocks in freezers totaled 513,243,000 lbs, up 5% from February and up 2% from March 31, 2012.

Total frozen egg stocks on March 31 were 26,997,000 lbs, down 6% from February and down 20% from March 2012. Stocks of egg whites were 3,390,000 lbs, up 16% from February but down 9% from March 2012. Frozen egg yolk stocks were 2,412,000 lbs, up 8% from February but down 11% from March 2012. Whole and mixed egg stocks were 6,234,000 lbs, down 22% from February and down 40% from March 2012. Unclassified egg stocks were 14,961,000 lbs, down 3% from February and down 12% from March 2012.

Stocks of frozen orange juice concentrate were 946,961,000 lbs, up 8% from February and up 7% from March 2012. Stocks of all types of frozen fruit on March 31 were 934,713,000 lbs, down 9% from February but up 6% from March 2012.

Stocks of frozen french fries were 988,220,000 lbs, down 1% from February but up 8% from March 2012. Total vegetable stocks (excluding potatoes) on March 31 were 1,866,971,000 lbs, down 9% from February but up 6% from March 2012.
