ALAMEDA, CALIF. — Terviva, a regenerative food and agriculture company that produces plant-based food ingredients under the Ponova brand, has made three appointments in its executive leadership. Sudhir Rani has been named chief corporate development officer while Scott Bowman is the new chief financial officer. Udayraj Prabhu takes over as the new senior vice president and general manager of operations in India.

Mr. Rani was Terviva’s chief financial officer for 11 years and helped to close more than $100 million in equity capital over five investment rounds. In his newly created role he will leverage growth opportunities across Terviva’s operations and geographies, including supporting the launch of a new US production facility that will help Terviva introduce Ponova oil to the global market in 2023.

Mr. Bowman previously was CFO of Dave’s Killer Bread during a period where revenue grew by more than 10 times to $200 million in annual sales. He also has served as CFO for the Organically Grown Co., a distributor of organic produce, and Phylos Bioscience, a molecular genetic science company that optimizes hemp and cannabis production. Mr. Bowman began his career at Ernst & Young, working there for 15 years in investment baking before joining Dave’s Killer Bread.

Mr. Prabhu will lead Terviva’s efforts to scale a transparent pongamia tree supply chain of wild-harvest beans that provides equitable incomes to smallholder farmers and tribal communities. Ponova food ingredients are made from the beans of pongamia trees. Millions of tons of the beans go unused annually.

Mr. Prabhu previously led corporate social responsibility and business transformation for eight years at Marico Ltd., an Indian multinational consumer goods company that owns and operates vegetable oil and food brands.

"Our Ponova oil and protein ingredients connect the restoration of land and communities to the creation of delicious, climate-friendly, non-GMO foods," said Naveen Sikka, Terviva founder and CEO. "Scott, Udayraj and Sudhir each bring valuable expertise and unique leadership capabilities to the executive team that will enable us to launch a regenerative food system that satisfies consumers' appetites for quality plant-based ingredients that are responsibly sourced and sustainable."
