LOS ANGELES — Sourse, the functional chocolate brand co-founded by “Modern Family” actress Sarah Hyland, is launching Energy Bites, a line of dark chocolate bites designed to improve energy, concentration and metabolism.
Created with 60 mg of matcha green tea plus 100 mg of L-theanine, Energy Bites deliver clean energy without coffee or the crash, according to Sourse. The dime-sized chocolates contain antioxidants called catechins, which are found in matcha and have been shown to improve metabolism by burning fat. They are covered in a plant-based coating that uses natural colors from jagua and beta carotene.
Sourse was founded in 2020 by first-time entrepreneurs Jenne Moore and Andrew Remlinger, with Ms. Hyland joining as a co-founder last fall. The Los Angeles-based startup offers a range of vitamin-infused chocolates. Its Glow Bites feature plant-based collagen for hydrated skin, and its Hype Bites feature vitamin B12 for energy and focus. Last year saw the addition of Mood Bites, featuring vitamin D3 and saffron for mood support, and Beauty Bites, featuring biotin for stronger hair and nails. All of the products are plant-based, gluten-free, allergy-free, non-GMO and sourced using fair trade practices.
The new Energy Bites are sold direct-to-consumer through Source’s e-commerce platform. They are available for $34 for a one-month supply. Monthly subscriptions also are available for $29.90.
