NEW YORK — Simple Food Ventures, a venture capital fund focused on healthy food and beverage products, has closed $6 million of its $15 million fundraise. The female-founded fund invests in seed to Series B consumer products companies “with a natural and organic ethos and a mass market appeal.”
Founded in 2020, Simple Food Ventures Fund I has invested in brands including Aura Bora, Bears Fruit, Belliwelli, Cure Hydration, Faves, Lupii, Miracle Seltzer, Rae Wellness, Simulate and Tomorrow Farms. The fund is led by Greer Tessler, Cara Kaufman and Luke Goldstein, whose experience and network in the grocery industry support portfolio companies’ efforts to scale distribution to mass grocery stores in middle-income markets.
The management team said it plays “in the white space” and is interested in “what’s transformative, not just what’s trending.”
Fundraising for the remaining $9 million will continue through year end, according to Simple Food Ventures.
