KANSAS CITY — Packaged food companies are helping consumers simplify meal preparation and enhance flavors in home-cooked dishes.

General Mills, Inc. is launching meal preparation kits under its Betty Crocker, Annie’s Organic, Old El Paso and Pillsbury brands. The kits focus on providing consumers with either fully prepared, ready-to-eat meal options or the essential building blocks for simple homemade dishes.

“At General Mills, we aim to create new products that solve the challenges our consumers face,” said Doug Martin, chief brand officer at General Mills. “As we continue to evolve our brands, it’s critical that our innovation efforts consistently reflect and support the busy, everyday lives of families. I’m excited that this lineup of products does just that, offering bold, accessible solutions for consumers — no matter the occasion — from some of their favorite brands.”

B&G Foods has partnered with Mars, Inc. to introduce Snickers Shakers Seasoning Blend, a topping combining the chocolate bar’s chocolate, peanut and caramel flavors. The launch follows the previous release of Twix Shakers Seasoning Blend.

“At Mars we are consumer obsessed and have noticed the clear desire that has emerged among consumers to be able to add the flavors of their favorite confections to both sweet and savory foods,” said Michelle Deignan, senior brand director, Mars Wrigley. “We’re pleased to partner with B&G Foods to allow consumers to experience the delicious and satisfying taste of Snickers in a completely new, and shake-able, way with Snickers Shakers Seasoning Blend.”

Danone North America has collaborated with Dunkin’ to introduce a coffee creamer inspired by the restaurant chain’s pumpkin donut hole treats. The creamer has “a pumpkin-forward flavor with hint of sweet donut glaze and natural spices,” according to the companies.

“With the rise in popularity of at-home coffee creations, we’re excited to give Dunkin’ fans the opportunity to create their own pumpkin-forward coffee beverages in their own homes,” said Kallie Goodwin, vice president of traditional creamers for Danone.
