KANSAS CITY — Companies continue to expand their meal solution offerings with quick and convenient options.

Companies that have been in the meal solution category for years are still adding to their portfolios. Dole Food Company, Inc., is adding three seasonal chopped salad options, including a tropical Thai salad, maple pecan salad and a double dill salad.

“We continue to give retailers and produce managers more reasons to stock Dole salads, and consumers more reasons to buy them, as part of our larger mission of motivating Americans toward healthier living and a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables,” said William Goldfield, director of corporate communications at Dole. “The new trio of convenient, nutritious meals showcasing the latest flavor trends is expected to excite both salad-lovers and non-salad-lovers alike.”

Chickpea-based comfort food company Banza is factoring in children to its meal solution innovation.

Banza is launching Masterpiece’za kits. The pizza decorating kits are available in a vegan and a vegetarian variety, both of which are gluten-free. Each Masterpiece’za kit contains a Banza chickpea-crust pizza, pre-sliced vegetables from Farmer’s Fridge, Tupperware “Deco Pens” to fill with sauce for decorating the pizza, Tiny Bites scissors, vegan basil pesto from Gotham Greens and oregano from Burlap & Barrel.

“We created Banza Masterpiece’zas to inspire creativity and joy around a nutritious dinner,” said Brian Rudolph, co-founder and chief executive officer of Banza. “Chickpeas are one of the best foods for human health and the environment. To celebrate the versatility of the ingredient and the love for pizza, we’re challenging our community to use Banza’s pizza crust as a canvas for art.”
